The rod is not removable, but there is a spilt in the rod to add curtains. I use rod pocket panels and tab panels. I change them for the seasons. Sheer in the summer, and then solid for the winter. What tools are needed to mount this?
We used a power screwdriver and added wall anchors. This piece is beautiful but heavy.

The curtain and the crown are separate. Inside of the crown, you have a loop so you will be able to place your curtains.

You could. It does look better with curtains.
